Gravity Manipulation

Also called Gravikinesis, Gravity Control

Gravity manipulation controls attraction and weight. It is one of the few powers with no natural counter — there is no insulating against gravity the way there is against heat or electricity — so settings limit it by range, precision or an explicit cost instead.

How it works

Personal users alter their own weight, which reads as flight or as sudden immovability.

Directed users apply force to a target: crushing, pinning, or flinging. This is where the power becomes a weapon.

Field users bend gravity across an area, which is close to unanswerable — Pain's Shinra Tensei and Chibaku Tensei are the clearest depictions, one repelling everything in range and the other assembling a moon out of debris.

Because it has no material counter, every well-written gravity user has a stated recharge, a range limit, or a physical toll.

How it scales

  1. Personal

Alters own weight — flight, or becoming immovable.

  2. Directed

    Crushes or flings a target.

  3. Field

    Bends gravity across an area.

  4. Astronomical

Assembles or collapses bodies of planetary mass.

Who has gravity manipulation

Across 3 universes. This list crosses publishers — something no single wiki can do, because every franchise keeps its own separate database.

The feat ledger

Every entry cites the work it comes from. Feat means it was shown in the work; Statement means a character or narrator said it. Nothing here is a fan estimate unless it is tagged Calc.

Graviton — Lifts and holds landmass-scale objects, limited more by his own psychology than by power

Feat The Avengers Volume 1 · Earth-616shown, no figure stated

Nagato — Shinra Tensei repels everything in range, with an explicitly stated recharge interval between uses

Statement Naruto · Manga canon

Star Boy — Increases an object's mass until it collapses under its own weight

Feat Adventure Comics · Post-Crisis DCshown, no figure stated

Satoru Gojo — Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue creates a point of attraction that pulls everything in range toward it

Feat Jujutsu Kaisen · Manga canonshown, no figure stated

Neutron — Generates gravitational and radioactive force from a containment suit that is also what keeps him alive

Statement Action Comics · Post-Crisis DCfigure stated in the work

Satoru Gojo — Cursed Technique Reversal: Red repels everything in range

Feat Jujutsu Kaisen · Manga canonshown, no figure stated

Satoru Gojo — Hollow Purple combines attraction and repulsion into a single erasing strike

Feat Jujutsu Kaisen · Manga canonshown, no figure stated

Satoru Gojo — Infinity places an unbridgeable space between him and any attack

Statement Jujutsu Kaisen · Manga canonfigure stated in the work

Graviton — Lifts an entire building and holds it suspended

Feat The Avengers Volume 1 · Earth-616shown, no figure stated

Graviton — Increases local gravity until opponents cannot stand

Feat The Avengers Volume 1 · Earth-616shown, no figure stated

Graviton — His limit is stated as confidence rather than power, which the stories use repeatedly

Nagato — Shinra Tensei repels everything in range from a single point

Feat Naruto · Manga canonshown, no figure stated

Nagato — A full-power push levels an entire village

Neutron — Manipulates gravitational force alongside the radiation

Feat Action Comics · Post-Crisis DCshown, no figure stated

Neutron — Crushes structures by increasing local gravity rather than striking them

Star Boy — Makes an opponent too heavy to move rather than striking them

Feat Legion of Super-Heroes · Post-Crisis DCshown, no figure stated

Star Boy — He can only add mass, never remove it — the asymmetry that defines the power

Statement Legion of Super-Heroes · Post-Crisis DCfigure stated in the work

Star Boy — Collapses a structure by overloading its own supports

Feat Legion of Super-Heroes · Post-Crisis DCshown, no figure stated

Star Boy — Expelled from the Legion for killing in self-defence, a rare consequence in the era

Limits

  • Almost always range-limited, because nothing else limits it.
  • Field-scale use carries a stated recharge in every good system — Pain's Shinra Tensei has a fixed interval between uses.
  • Precision and scale trade off sharply.
  • Users are rarely immune to their own field.

Counters

  • Attacking during a stated recharge window.
  • Range — closing or breaking distance.
  • Opponents with no mass to act on.

Questions

Is gravity manipulation just telekinesis?

No. Telekinesis applies force to a chosen object; gravity manipulation changes the rule everything in an area obeys. That is why it has no material counter and why settings limit it with recharge timers rather than with resistances.
