Our editorial standards
We hold our content to a few simple commitments:
- Accuracy first. We aim to get the canon right — publishers, issue numbers, first appearances, and creator credits — and we keep details general when a specific fact is uncertain rather than guessing.
- Primary sources. Where possible we reference official publisher announcements, the comics themselves, and on-the-record statements.
- We update our work. Comics move fast. We revisit evergreen guides to keep release dates, castings, and rankings current.
- We fix mistakes. Spot an error? Our Corrections Policy explains how to flag it, and we correct promptly.
- Editorial independence. Our rankings and opinions are our own. Some articles may contain affiliate links, but they never determine our coverage or verdicts.
A note on comic collecting
A lot of our readers collect, so we take the hobby seriously. When we discuss a character’s debut, we try to note the issue that matters — the Silver, Bronze, or Modern-age key behind the story — along with the context that drives collector value, from grading (CGC/CBCS) to how film and TV announcements move the market. Our goal is to help you understand not just who a character is, but where they came from on the page.
