The first Death Stranding Isolations trailer dropped today, October 30, 2026, after Kojima Productions pulled back the curtain on its new Disney+ anime series at the studio’s 10th-anniversary event in Tokyo. The 45-second teaser is grim, quiet, and short on answers — which tracks, since it’s titled Isolations. It streams on Disney+ sometime in 2027.

The teaser opens wide and still: a lone figure in heavy gear stands at the lip of a massive crater, a thin column of light rising from somewhere deep inside it. If you’ve played the games, that shape is instantly familiar — a crater like this is what’s left after a voidout, the explosion that happens when one of the setting’s ghostly BTs catches and consumes a person. The official synopsis for the whole series is just four words: “My mom became a crater” — as GameSpot noted when the tagline went up today. This is probably the crater.

The Glowing Thing Nobody Explains

Cut to somewhere warmer and stranger: a small, winged shape made of blue light, sitting on a table in a cluttered room next to green canisters. It’s on screen for less than a second and the trailer gives it zero context — no games have anything that looks quite like it, so this reads as new to the show. Worth watching for when more footage lands.

A Girl, Strapped In and Told to Sleep

A blonde girl lies down, eyes shut, a red display clipped to her forehead that just says SLEEP. The trailer cuts hard from there into black handprints smeared across a pale surface, like something clawed its way across the frame. It’s brief and it’s meant to unsettle you, not inform you — there’s no indication yet whether this is a memory, a dream, or something happening to her in real time.

Someone’s Riding Through the Dark

Two empty seats, shot from behind, inside what looks like a vehicle or transport pod. A few frames later the whole interior floods red. Nobody is shown sitting in either seat before or after the light turns — it’s the trailer’s most ominous beat and also its least explained one.

A Face We’ll Be Seeing a Lot More Of

The teaser closes on the same blonde girl from the SLEEP device, now in close-up and visibly shaken, lit green in a room lined with shelving. She’s the only character the trailer actually lets you look at long enough to register — everyone else here is a silhouette, a shadow, or gone before the cut. Kojima Productions has described the cast only in archetypes so far: a wise old man, a woman soldier, a furious boy, and a girl who has cut herself off from everyone. This is almost certainly her.

What’s New Here

Everything. This is the first footage of any kind for Death Stranding Isolations — the project itself was only confirmed today, alongside two other screen expansions revealed at the same 10th-anniversary event: an animated film called Death Stranding Mosquito and a live-action feature already in development at A24, per Anime News Network’s coverage of the event. The original game has sold more than 10 million copies across PS4, PS5 and PC since its November 2019 release, and Kojima has kept that audience almost entirely inside games until this announcement. What the Trailer Doesn’t Show

No character names. No voice cast. No footage of the man described as part of the central duo — every clear human face in these 45 seconds belongs to the same girl. No exact premiere date beyond “2027.” And no confirmation of how literally to take “my mom became a crater” — whether that’s this girl’s exact backstory or a franchise-wide tagline, the trailer doesn’t say.

Kojima Productions isn’t slowing down anywhere else, either: Bill Skarsgård just landed the lead role in Kojima’s next game, PHYSINT, after Xbox stepped in to publish it when PlayStation ended its partnership with the studio.

When does Death Stranding Isolations come out?

Kojima Productions has only confirmed a 2027 premiere on Disney+. No specific date has been announced.

No. It’s an original story set in the same world as the Death Stranding games, following a young man and woman, rather than adapting either game’s plot.
