7. Air-Walker
Gabriel Lan’s original body died before Galactus ever empowered him, and the Air-Walker most fans know is a construct built around his consciousness. He’s the least combat-proven herald on this list — during the Silver Surfer, Firelord, and Nova’s stand against their successor Morg, Air-Walker was injured rather than holding his own. Weakness: a herald built as a scout first and a fighter second, and it shows every time he’s actually tested.
6. Nova (Frankie Raye)
Frankie Raye already had Human Torch-derived flame powers before Galactus elevated her to full Power Cosmic, giving her one of the most explosive output ceilings of any herald. It wasn’t enough: when she joined Silver Surfer and Firelord against the rogue herald Morg, she was the one who didn’t survive the fight. 3. Silver Surfer
Norrin Radd is the most famous herald for a reason — full Power Cosmic, centuries of experience, and a moral code that’s made him an Avenger, a Defender, and Galactus’s conscience more than once. But fame isn’t a feat: when Morg came for him one-on-one, the Surfer needed Firelord and Nova beside him to even make it a fight. Weakness: mercy. The Surfer consistently fights with restraint his more savage successors never bother with, and restraint loses to a herald with none.
2. Morg
Morg is the most violent herald Galactus ever chose, and the comics don’t soften it: at full power he beat Silver Surfer one-on-one, then killed Nova and injured Air-Walker when Surfer, Firelord, and Nova banded together against him. Galactus himself judged Morg too dangerous to keep and personally stripped his Power Cosmic — which is the only reason a weakened Terrax was able to finish him off. Why Silver Surfer Isn’t #1
The most common pushback on any Heralds ranking is putting the character on every piece of Galactus merchandise below three others. That’s the point of scoring by feats instead of fame: Morg beat the Surfer in a straight fight, and Stardust survived something that killed everyone else caught in it. Silver Surfer remains the most important herald to the mythos — he’s the one who talks Galactus out of eating Earth, repeatedly — but “most important” and “most powerful” are different questions, and this list only answers the second one.
Heralds This List Leaves Out
