Quick TakeArticle at a glance
  • Kagurabachi leads the pack: Studio Cypic's adaptation premieres in April 2027 after a worldwide screening tour, and it's already the most-discussed shonen debut on the calendar.
  • Netflix and Wit Studio's The One Piece remake drops its entire 7-episode first season at once in February 2027, retelling the East Blue saga from Chapter 1.
  • Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4 is confirmed by MAPPA but has no release date yet, while Frieren Season 3 (October 2027) and Solo Leveling Season 3 (2027-2028) already have firm windows.

The most anticipated anime of 2027 is led by Kagurabachi’s long-awaited debut, Netflix’s full-series reboot of The One Piece, and the next chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen, Frieren and Solo Leveling. Some of these have exact premiere dates; others only have a confirmed year. Here is every title worth planning around, ranked by how much noise it is already making.

Why 2027 Already Looks Stacked

Three of the industry’s biggest ongoing franchises — Jujutsu Kaisen, Frieren and Solo Leveling — all have their next seasons confirmed for 2027, and that’s before counting new adaptations. Frieren’s Season 3 announcement landed the same day Season 2’s finale aired, on March 28, 2026, which is as close to a guaranteed green light as a sequel season gets. That kind of back-to-back confirmation is unusual, and it’s why next year’s slate is shaping up to be one of the busiest in recent memory.

1. Kagurabachi — April 2027

Kagurabachi’s anime was officially confirmed for an April 2027 premiere, with newly launched Studio Cypic (a rebrand of Cygames Pictures, backed by CyberAgent and Shochiku) handling production. Naruto veteran Tetsuya Takeuchi directs, with Keigo Sasaki on character designs. A world tour of early screenings kicked off in summer 2026, building toward a full Episode 1 premiere in Japan ahead of broadcast (Anime Corner). Shonen Jump hasn’t had a debut generate this much pre-release noise since Jujutsu Kaisen itself, and the wait has only made the hype louder.

2. The One Piece (Netflix Remake) — February 2027

Netflix and Wit Studio’s from-scratch anime remake, titled “The One Piece,” retells the story from Chapter 1 of the manga. Masashi Koizuka directs, Taku Kishimoto handles series composition, and Season 1 covers roughly the manga’s first 50 chapters across seven episodes and about 300 minutes of runtime, all dropping on Netflix the same day in February 2027 (Deadline). It’s a separate project from the long-running TV anime, which switched to a seasonal release schedule in 2026 and keeps airing on its own timeline — see our One Piece seasonal schedule breakdown for that side of the franchise.

3. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4 — 2027 (No Date Yet)

MAPPA confirmed Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4 is officially in production, continuing straight out of the Season 3 finale and the Culling Game arc. No release date has been announced — only that it’s coming — and Japan’s TV broadcast slots are already full into early 2027, which points to a back-half-of-2027 window at the earliest. Until MAPPA gives a firmer date, treat anything more specific than “2027” as speculation. Catch up on where the story stands in our Jujutsu Kaisen watch guide.

4. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 3 — October 2027

Frieren’s Season 3 is locked for October 2027, adapting the Golden Land arc with Madhouse returning to animate. The announcement came on March 28, 2026, the same day Season 2 wrapped — about as fast as a renewal confirmation gets. It’s one of the few entries on this list with both a studio and a specific month nailed down this far out. See where the power scaling stands in our strongest Frieren characters ranking.

5. Solo Leveling Season 3 — 2027-2028

D&C Media, the Korean publisher that owns the Solo Leveling IP, confirmed Season 3 with a 2027-2028 release window in its own financial reporting, with A-1 Pictures again animating. A spin-off film, Solo Leveling: Beyond the System, was separately announced at Crunchyroll’s Anime Expo 2026 panel (CBR). It’s the widest window on this list, which also makes it the easiest one to get excited about too early.

6. Shangri-La Frontier Season 3 & Mashle Season 3 — January 2027

Two more Shonen Jump adaptations return in the Winter 2027 season. Shangri-La Frontier Season 3 has a confirmed premiere date of January 10, 2027, and is scheduled to run for two consecutive cours, roughly 6 months of episodes back to back. Mashle Season 3 is confirmed for January 2027 as well, though its exact premiere date hadn’t been announced as of this writing. Neither is a new-adaptation event like Kagurabachi, but both are reliable, well-reviewed sequels landing in the same crowded month.

7. SSS-Class Revival Hunter — January 2027

Crunchyroll’s anime adaptation of the Korean manhwa SSS-Class Revival Hunter — about an F-rank hunter who gains a rare S-rank skill he can only use by dying first — premieres in January 2027, simulcasting worldwide outside Asia. Studio fu is animating under director Hiroaki Sakurai. It’s been pitched by some outlets as Crunchyroll’s next attempt at a Solo Leveling-sized hit, which is a lot of pressure for a title most Western readers only discovered this year.
