The Strongest Berserk Characters, Ranked
1. The God Hand (Void, Slan, Ubik, Conrad, and Femto)
The God Hand isn’t ranked internally in this list because the story has never given readers a way to do it honestly — they’re the five beings who orchestrate every Eclipse, and nothing in the series has ever forced them to fight each other or measure their strength against a shared opponent. Femto, the newest member, is the one readers see the most: he’s the reborn Griffith, and by 2026 he rules the kingdom of Falconia with an army and a cult of followers who worship him as a messiah. Whatever the other four are capable of individually, the group’s confirmed feat — casually erasing an entire mercenary company during an Eclipse — has never been matched by anything else in the story.
2. The Skull Knight
The Skull Knight is the one wildcard on this list: his origin, age, and full power are still unconfirmed, and Miura has kept it that way for the entire run of the series. What is confirmed is that he attacked Void, the God Hand’s leader, directly and drew blood — the only time any non-member has landed a real hit on one of them. He rides a skeletal horse, wields a sword that can cut spiritual beings as easily as physical ones, and has spent centuries working against the God Hand’s plans from the shadows, a mystery Kentaro Miura was still building on right up to his death in 2021, as detailed in retrospectives on his career.
3. Ganishka (True Form)
Ganishka started the Conqueror Arc as a human emperor obsessed with a Behelit, and ended it as the strongest single threat the series has ever shown outside the God Hand itself. In his final, fully-transformed form he fought all five members of the God Hand at once and forced them to intervene personally to put him down — something no other Apostle, human, or spirit in the story has ever made them do. It’s the closest thing Berserk has to hard proof of where the ceiling sits just below the God Hand.
4. Zodd the Immortal
Zodd has been alive since at least the days of the ancient Kushan Empire, which by 2026’s chapters makes him well over a thousand years old, and for most of that time he was considered the strongest Apostle in existence. He answers to Griffith now, not out of fear, but because he respected what he saw in Guts and Griffith’s will during the Golden Age Arc — a rare case of Berserk’s strongest characters acting on something other than raw power.
5. Grunbeld
Grunbeld is the Iron Giant, one of the Kushan Empire’s most powerful Apostle generals, and the one who beat Guts one-on-one during the Falcon of the Millennium Empire arc — not a close fight, either. His true form is an armored, fire-breathing dragon, and he’s since resurfaced as one of Falconia’s loyal enforcers under Griffith’s new order.
6. Guts
Guts has no Apostle powers and never took the deal that would have given him any — he turned down a Crimson Behelit rather than become one of the things he’s spent his life killing. What he has instead is the cursed Berserker Armor, which amplifies his physical output far past human limits at the cost of his own body and sanity, a prosthetic cannon arm built for exactly this fight, and more raw willpower than anyone else in the cast. It’s the only reason a mortal man is anywhere near this list at all — the same refusal to rely on borrowed power that put Berserk on our list of the best manga of all time.
7. Casca

The Manga Is Still Catching Up
Studio Gaga and Kouji Mori released three new chapters in quick succession in mid-2026 — chapters 384 through 386, out between June 12 and July 12 — continuing the story from the outline Miura left behind before his death in 2021, according to CBR’s coverage of the update.
