What Is Embers + Ashes?

Embers + Ashes is the next chapter of Ninjago Legends, the storyline that already ran through Monstrosity and Duskfall. Four young heroes, Nate, Mira, Jin and Tre, lead the new generation of Elemental Ninja, and they’re not fighting alone: the flagship LEGO set for the wave, Ivo’s Ninja Dojo, lists Master Ivo and series mainstay Master Zane as mentor minifigures alongside the new team, the villainous Oni Imperator and the Oni Warriors, plus supporting characters Gigi, Duncan, Madge and Roland.

The Embers + Ashes Trailer, Shot by Shot

It opens small: a hooded figure walking alone through a dark forest toward a distant lit tower, then a flash cut to a young ninja staring up at the sky over a mountain range streaked with lava. Candles get lit one by one at what looks like a shrine, cutting to an actual volcano erupting, before two small silhouettes fall or fly through a blank white sky trailing a pink spark. That’s the team’s introduction run: a grinning freckled kid, a fist wrapped in orange fire, a hand gripping a shard of blue ice energy, then the white-haired master at a quiet meal before the show jumps the whole cast into a modern-day city street, a deliberate clash with the fantasy opening.

The back half is where the teaser spends its budget. A villain’s armored, fire-lit face fills the frame right as “LEGENDS NEVER” lands on screen, followed by a glowing staff-wielding fighter, a teal energy circle with the whole team’s silhouettes standing inside it, and a string of quick combat cuts: a punch wrapped in light, a magenta attack arcing across the frame, two characters clashing mid-air. It closes on the teaser’s biggest swing: two dragons, one gold and one dark green, locking together in the air above a single small swordsman on the ground, right before the “Coming Soon” card.

What’s New Here

Everything: this is the first footage of any kind for Embers + Ashes, and the first confirmation that the new generation’s main villain is called the Oni Imperator. It’s also the first time Ninjago has paired a brand-new four-person team directly against a returning legacy master in the same teaser, rather than easing a new cast in gradually across a season.

What the Teaser Doesn’t Show

None of the four new ninja are named on screen, and the teaser never says which character controls which element beyond the fire and ice flashes it shows in passing. It also doesn’t explain how this story connects to Duskfall’s ending, or why the Oni, a faction with no prior role in mainline Ninjago continuity, are the threat this time.

When Does Embers + Ashes Come Out?

LEGO has only committed to March 2027 for Season 1, alongside the new wave of sets built around it. Ninjago has now run for more than 5,700 days since it first premiered on Cartoon Network on January 14, 2011, and this is the franchise handing its spotlight to an entirely new team for the first time since Duskfall wrapped.
