The three-episode arcs, and why this is the Star Wars show with no homework
Andor is built in blocks of three, and it was released that way. Season 1 opened with three episodes on September 21, 2022 and then went weekly to November 23. Season 2 dropped three at a time over four weeks, April 22 to May 13, 2025 – and each of those four blocks is set a year after the last. That is not a scheduling quirk: each trio is a self-contained movement with its own location and its own problem, which is why the episode list above groups the way it does and why stopping in the middle of a trio is the worst place to stop.
It is also the Star Wars series that asks least of you. Tony Gilroy created it, Nicholas Britell scored the first season and Brandon Roberts most of the second, and it opens five years before Rogue One with a scavenger nobody in the films had heard of. There is no Jedi, no lightsaber, and no prior series you need to have finished – which is unusual enough in this franchise to be the main reason to recommend it to someone who gave up on Star Wars television. There is one thing to do after rather than before: watch Rogue One. The last three episodes cover the days immediately before that film opens, and the closing shot hands off to it directly – twenty-four episodes and a two-hour film make one continuous story, and the film lands very differently in that order.
