What is in the Battle Yellow bundle

Sony announced the hardware line on the PlayStation Blog on August 11, 2026. The headline item is the PS5 Digital Edition – Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition Bundle, which contains a PS5 Digital Edition console, a matching Battle Yellow DualSense wireless controller, and a code for the game.

The other five items in the range are accessories sold separately. Sony is using two finishes across them: Battle Yellow and Adamantium, which Sony describes as a metallic finish.

When and where you can pre-order

Pre-orders open August 19, 2026 at 7:00am PT / 10:00am ET in the United States, and at 10:00am local time in the UK, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. Sony is selling them through direct.playstation.com and select retailers, and its own wording is “while supplies last.”

The hardware ships on September 15, 2026, the same day the game launches, and Sony describes the quantities as limited.

The detail most coverage is skipping: it is a Digital Edition

The only console in this range is a PS5 Digital Edition. There is no disc-drive version of the Battle Yellow console at any price. If you want a disc drive and the Wolverine look, the bundle cannot give you both — you would need a standard PS5 plus the $74.99 console covers, which Sony lists as fitting both the disc and digital models.

That distinction matters more than it sounds. A $649.99 console that cannot play a disc is a different proposition from a $649.99 console that can, and buyers who collect physical PlayStation releases — a group that overlaps heavily with comic collectors — are the people most likely to want this thing.

Adamantium is a PS5 Pro finish, with one exception

The platform list here is worth reading carefully, because the two finishes do not cover the same hardware. Battle Yellow covers exist for the standard PS5 (disc and digital) and for PS5 Pro. Adamantium covers are listed for PS5 Pro only.

So if you own a base PS5 and prefer the metallic look, the Adamantium DualSense at $84.99 is the only part of that finish you can buy. There is no Adamantium shell for your console.

What the bundle implies about value

Sony has not published a breakdown, but its own listed prices allow one. Subtract the $84.99 Battle Yellow DualSense and the $69.99 Standard Edition game from the $649.99 bundle and roughly $495 is left for the console itself. That is our arithmetic from Sony’s published figures, not a Sony claim, and it carries one caveat: the announcement says the bundle includes “a game code” without specifying whether it is the Standard or Digital Deluxe edition.

Judge the bundle on whether you want a yellow console, in other words, rather than on an assumed discount.

The game itself

Marvel’s Wolverine launches on September 15, 2026, on PS5 only, with PS5 Pro enhancements. PlayStation’s store lists a Standard Edition at $69.99 and a Digital Deluxe Edition at $79.99, with a $10.00 upgrade path for Standard owners. Insomniac has described it as a single-player, narrative-driven action game that is not open world.

It shares a continuity with Insomniac’s Spider-Man games, which makes it the first entry in that universe not to star a Spider-Man — we broke down how that fits into the wider series in our guide to the Spider-Man games in order.
