Marvel Rivals Season 10 begins on Friday 11 September 2026 at 09:00 UTC, bringing the game’s 54th playable hero, a new battle pass and a competitive reset that knocks ranked players down six divisions. NetEase has confirmed the date, the hero count and the reset. It has not confirmed who the new hero is.

What NetEase Has Actually Confirmed

The 11 September date, the 54th-hero count and the Season 9.5 content schedule come from the official roadmap NetEase published on 5 August 2026 in Dev Vision Vol. 20, and were reported at the time by Vice. The exact rollover time, the maintenance window and the reset arithmetic come from community trackers reading the same season structure rather than from the roadmap itself, so treat those three as reliable but second-hand. Season 9: The Mystery of Thebes launched on 10 July 2026 and runs roughly nine weeks, ending when Season 10 goes live.

The Rank Reset, in Actual Numbers

Every seasonal rollover in Marvel Rivals knocks your competitive placement down by six divisions, which is two complete tiers. NetEase’s own worked examples make the scale concrete: a Diamond III finish restarts at Gold III, and a Grandmaster III finish restarts at Platinum III. The drop is uniform, so it costs a Grandmaster player exactly as many divisions as it costs a Diamond player.

Where you end Season 9 Where you start Season 10
Grandmaster III Platinum III
Diamond III Gold III
The two reset examples NetEase has published. The rule is a flat six-division drop.

The practical consequence is that the nine days between now and 11 September are the last cheap ranked points of the season. Climbing a division now is worth the same as climbing it in October, but the ladder you climb next week will be full of players who have just been knocked two tiers below where they actually play, which makes the opening days of a season unusually noisy.

Why the Leaks Are Less Useful Than They Look

Datamines agree that Gorr the God Butcher and Nightcrawler are the next two heroes. They do not agree on what either one does.

Across the leak-tracking sites reporting the same datamine, Gorr has been described as a Vanguard and as a Duelist, and Nightcrawler has been described as a Duelist and as a Strategist. Marvel Rivals has exactly three roles. A leak that cannot pin a hero to one of three buckets is not telling you how that hero plays — and role is the only part of a hero reveal that changes what you should do before a rank reset. Whether Nightcrawler heals or duels decides whether your team needs a second support, and the leaks land on opposite sides of that question.

There is a smaller tell worth knowing. The Marvel Rivals Wiki’s Nightcrawler entry still serves an “unknown data” placeholder rather than a character portrait — which is what you would expect if no in-game art exists to pull yet. For The Hood, by contrast, the wiki holds a full set of portraits, promos and teaser images. That asymmetry is what a genuinely unreleased hero looks like versus a released one, and it is a useful sanity check whenever a hero leak starts circulating with confident artwork attached.

Some leaks also place Gorr in Season 10.5 in mid-October rather than at launch. Since NetEase has confirmed only one new hero for 11 September, at most one of the two names can be right about the start of the season.

Season 9.5 Still Has One Drop Left

The Hood arrived on 7 August 2026 as the 53rd playable character, a Vanguard who switches between a mortal form and a demon form mid-match. That makes the Season 10 addition the 54th, which is where the confirmed number comes from.

Season 9.5 has run weekly content since then: the Creed of Akkaba event on 7 August, swimsuit skins for Scarlet Witch, Magik and Storm on 14 August, Hellfire Gala costumes for Cyclops and Phoenix on 21 August, and Peni Parker and Angela skins on 28 August. The last drop before the season ends is on 4 September: an X-Men ’97 Season 2 collaboration costume plus an Ultron skin. If you want either, buy before the 11th rather than assuming they carry over.

When the Real Reveal Lands

NetEase’s pattern is to announce a new hero in a Dev Vision video roughly seven to ten days before a season starts. For an 11 September launch, that window is the first week of September — so the official identity should be public within days of this article. Until that video exists, every hero name attached to Season 10 is a datamine, and the datamines are disagreeing with each other about the thing that matters.

One more thing worth setting expectations on: NetEase does not usually ship a new map on day one of a season. If a new location is coming, late September is the likelier window.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the new Season 10 hero?

53 as of Season 9.5, after The Hood was added on 7 August 2026 as a Vanguard. Season 10 brings the roster to 54.
