American Horror Story: 13 got its first full trailer from FX on September 10, 2026, and it premieres September 24 on FX and Hulu. It’s a big crossover season full of actors who’ve played several roles on the show. It leans hardest on Coven‘s witches, but FX calls it a wider crossover, not a Coven sequel.

Elsa Mars Gets the Opening Number
The trailer kicks off with a song. Jessica Lange is back as Freak Show‘s Elsa Mars, performing under a marquee that reads “Fräulein Elsa’s Cabinet of Curiosities,” just like her Season 4 stage numbers. Opening here tells you what this season is selling: characters you already love, not a new setting.

Roll Call: Who’s Actually Back
Most of the trailer is cast cards, each showing an actor’s face and name over a few seconds of new footage. Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Gabourey Sidibe, Leslie Grossman, Joey Pollari and Mena Suvari all get one. An “ORIGINAL SERIES” card also pops up, which seems to set the veterans apart from the newer faces.
The best moment belongs to Emma Roberts. In a candlelit bedroom, her character, who looks every bit like Coven‘s Madison Montgomery, floats cross-legged above a bed. That’s real witch power on screen, and the clearest sign Coven’s witches are here for more than a cameo.

Twisty, John Waters and the Black Dahlia
John Carroll Lynch is back in Twisty the Clown’s ragged, gap-toothed mask from Freak Show. Director John Waters gets his own blood-soaked card, arms raised in a Gothic hallway. Both get the same billing style as the leads.
A card that just says “SUVARI” is Mena Suvari, announced in May 2026 as returning as Elizabeth Short, the real-life Black Dahlia victim she played in Murder House and Apocalypse (Nerdbot).

The title card builds “13” out of a thorny black-and-red texture, and the September 24 date follows in red neon. Between cast cards you get quick flashes of a body-horror mask reveal, a hallway chase lit green and blue, and women in matching tour T-shirts at an airport gate. None of it lasts long enough to tell what story it belongs to.

What’s New Here
Elsa Mars, Twisty and a fully powered Madison were separate casting news until now. This is the first time they share a trailer. The “ORIGINAL SERIES” card is new too, and it hints FX is marking who’s back in a signature role versus playing someone new. And 13 half-hour episodes is closer to the show’s early structure than its recent, longer seasons.
Wait, Where’s Cordelia?
TVInsider and Deadline, among others, report that Sarah Paulson is back as Cordelia Chase, Evan Peters returns in his Cult or Hotel role (outlets disagree), Angela Bassett returns as Marie Laveau, and Frances Conroy cameos as Myrtle Snow. None of them gets a name card in this trailer, though. A phrase starting “THE GLOBAL …” also flashes by too fast to read. And nothing explains how a Freak Show performer, a Coven witch and a killer clown end up in one story. That’s the big mystery, and FX isn’t telling yet.

FX also laid out the release plan alongside the trailer: three episodes in each of the first two weeks, then two every Thursday through the October 29 finale (Deadline). TVInsider has more on the Coven-heavy angle and the returning-cast requirement (TVInsider), and the show’s full history is on Wikipedia.
