Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 premieres on Netflix on 20 October 2026, and all ten episodes arrive the same day. CD Projekt Red confirmed the date at Anime NYC on 20 August alongside a new premiere-date trailer. The Studio Trigger series is a standalone story set in Night City with four new leads — David Martinez does not return.

What CD Projekt Red confirmed
The announcement landed at Anime NYC on 20 August 2026 and settled the one thing the previous teasers had left open: a date. Until now the series had only a “Fall 2026” window, which is what the key art above still carries.
| Detail | Confirmed |
|---|---|
| Premiere date | Tuesday, 20 October 2026 |
| Platform | Netflix, worldwide |
| Episodes | 10, released together |
| Studios | Studio Trigger, with CD Projekt Red |
| Continuity | Standalone — new cast, new story, same Night City |
| Announced | 20 August 2026, Anime NYC |
The premiere-date trailer is below. It is the version posted to CD Projekt Red’s own channel — worth stating, because searching for this trailer surfaces several re-uploads from aggregator and reaction channels before it reaches either official one.
The four new leads
None of these characters appeared in the 2022 season. The English cast is headlined by Clancy Brown, whose voice work runs from Superman: The Animated Series to SpongeBob SquarePants.
| Character | Who they are | Japanese VA | English VA |
|---|---|---|---|
| D | A Snake Nation netrunner hunting the killer who wiped out his clan | Koki Uchiyama | Nazeeh Tarsha |
| Weak Kingsley | A veteran edgerunner once known as “King,” now living on old glory | Kentaro Tone | Clancy Brown |
| Roman Carax | A young film obsessive documenting Night City as it really is | Momoka Terasawa | Valeria Rodriguez |
| Talia Yang | Corporate-raised, now hardened into Maelstrom | Akari Kitō | Kimoy Lee |
Who is making it
Kai Ikarashi directs, in his first time leading a series — though he is no stranger to this one. Ikarashi storyboarded and served as animation director on episode 6 of the 2022 season, “Girl on Fire,” the episode most people point to when they talk about how that show looked. Sztybor has said that episode is precisely why Ikarashi was handed the sequel. Ichigo Kanno is lead character designer, and the story comes from Sztybor himself, the CD Projekt Red writer behind the 2022 season, with screenplay work from Masahiko Otsuka, a Trigger co-founder.
Edgerunners is an anthology now, and that is the real news
The date will get the headlines. The structure is the more interesting fact.
A Netflix show billed as a second season that shares no characters, no protagonist and no ongoing plot with its first is unusual. Sztybor has been explicit that this was the design rather than a fallback: the plan, he has said, was always to make a standalone story that ends after ten episodes. The 2022 season did exactly that. It closed.

So the honest description of Edgerunners is not “a returning series” but an anthology with a shared setting — closer to Star Wars: Visions than to a normal streaming renewal. That matters for expectations. Nobody has to catch up. The 2022 season is not homework, and anyone who bounced off its ending is not being asked back to it.
It also means the sequel gives up the single biggest advantage a second season normally has. The 2022 run worked because it spent ten episodes making you care about its leads before it started taking them away. Season two has to rebuild that from zero, in the same number of episodes, in front of an audience that already knows how a Night City story tends to end.
This time, there is no game to sell
The 2022 season is remembered as one of the most effective pieces of marketing any game has had. It arrived while Cyberpunk 2077 was still recovering from a launch that had cost the studio its reputation, and it sent players back to a game many had written off.
That job no longer exists. CD Projekt Red has finished adding content to Cyberpunk 2077 — the 2026 update was billed as its last numbered content drop, with the studio moving to technical and platform support only. The sequel, Project Orion, entered pre-production in 2025 at the studio’s Boston office on Unreal Engine 5, and is years from release.
Which leaves Edgerunners 2 somewhere its predecessor never stood: there is no live product for it to drive players toward, and no launch it has been timed against. It has to work as television. That is a harder brief and a more interesting one, because the first season’s reputation was always slightly entangled with the redemption arc of the game beside it. This one gets judged on its own.
How to watch
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 streams on Netflix from 20 October 2026, subtitled and dubbed, in every region Netflix operates. The 2022 season is on Netflix now and, because the new season is standalone, is optional rather than a prerequisite. Last verified: 20 August 2026.

When does Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 come out?
It premieres on Netflix on 20 October 2026. All ten episodes are released the same day rather than weekly.
