Part one of three, and the four arcs you have to clear first
This is the one Demon Slayer entry you cannot start with. Crunchyroll does not call it Infinity Castle; it calls it Infinity Castle I, and that numeral is the single most useful fact about it. The film is the first of a planned trilogy, it opens on the exact frame the Hashira Training arc ended on, and it spends none of its 155 minutes reintroducing anyone. Four television arcs stand in front of it – Mugen Train, Entertainment District, Swordsmith Village and Hashira Training – and our Demon Slayer watch order lays them out in sequence.
The runtime is the other thing to plan around. At 155 minutes it is comfortably the longest thing the franchise has produced, roughly the length of six and a half television episodes, and Ufotable structures it as three near-continuous duels rather than a film with quiet passages. Haruo Sotozaki directed from a screenplay credited to Ufotable itself, with Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina scoring; Aniplex and Toho released it in Japan on July 18, 2025 and Crunchyroll, through Sony Pictures Releasing, put it in US theaters on September 12, 2025. It went on to take Film of the Year at the 10th Crunchyroll Anime Awards and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Animated Feature – the release and awards record has the full list.
What that means practically: the film ends without resolving the Infinity Castle, because two more films are coming.
