The MCU show that needs the least homework, on purpose
Moon Knight barely touches the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and that is a deliberate choice, not an oversight. Steven Grant does not know who the Avengers are, does not reference an Infinity Stone, and the show never cuts away to a S.H.I.E.L.D. cameo to remind you what universe you’re in. It is the closest thing Marvel Studios has made to a stand-alone character study, built around Oscar Isaac playing several distinct people convincingly enough that the mystery of which one you’re watching drives the first half of the season.
The tone is closer to psychological horror than to a typical superhero outing: practical effects, unreliable narration, and a genuine sense that Steven cannot trust his own memory. The back half moves the story to Cairo, and the production shot on location rather than leaning entirely on green screen, which is part of why the Egypt-set episodes look different from almost anything else Marvel Studios has released.
Six episodes is a genuinely small ask, and nothing about the ending requires a sequel to feel complete, even though the door is left open. The production record has the full cast and episode history.
