You don’t need WandaVision, but it helps you see what’s being paid off

Agatha All Along answers a question WandaVision left hanging: what happened to Agatha Harkness after Wanda trapped her as a nosy neighbor inside her own spell? The answer is a season built less like a superhero show and more like a horror-tinged road story. Agatha, stripped of her powers, assembles a coven of witches — each with their own reason to need what the Witches’ Road promises — and walks a gauntlet of trials that test a different kind of magic every episode. A mysterious teenager who freed her from the spell tags along, and the show withholds who he actually is for most of the season; this guide does too.

The format rewards patience. Episodes 2 through 7 are essentially a trial-of-the-week structure — a poison-timer house, a haunted recording studio, a séance gone wrong, a tarot-card castle — and each trial is written around a different coven member’s unresolved history rather than being a disconnected set piece. Kathryn Hahn carries the season as Agatha, but Patti LuPone’s Lilia and Aubrey Plaza’s mysterious hunter give it its best double acts. The episode-by-episode record has full credits and air dates.

If you haven’t seen WandaVision, you can still follow this: the premiere re-establishes who Agatha is and what Westview was. If you have, several supporting faces and a handful of callbacks will land harder, and our WandaVision guide is the place to start. For another Marvel Television series that plays with identity and memory, our Moon Knight guide is the closest thing on our shelf.
