How to get through 170 episodes, and which ones you can skip
The original run is numbered as one continuous block, not as four seasons. All 170 episodes, October 2017 to March 2021, count straight through from 1 to 170 rather than restarting, so “season 3” is a label fans apply to an arc rather than anything the episode numbering marks. Worth knowing before you start, because the run ends at a stopping point rather than a conclusion.

A long shonen run carries ballast, and this one is honest about where. Episode 66 is a recap of the Midnight Sun arc, episode 82 is a Charmy-centered special, and the finale at 170 steps away from the main cast entirely for a prequel about a devil named Lichita. Every episode above carries a one-line premise for exactly this reason: you can see what a week actually is before you commit 22 minutes to it.

The reason to do the work now is that the story is restarting. Crunchyroll has put official trailers for a new Black Clover season on its own YouTube channel, which makes the 170 episodes above the entry requirement rather than an archive.
