Two seasons, two casts, no connection you need to track

Season 2 does not continue season 1’s story, and you do not need to have seen season 1 to understand it. The 2022 run follows David Martinez and Lucy, and it ends the way it ends. “Edgerunners 2”, which released complete on Netflix on October 20, 2026, drops that cast entirely and follows a new crew: Weak “King” Kingsley, a burned-out veteran edgerunner; D, a nomad netrunner hunting the people who wiped out his clan; and Roman, a twelve-year-old filmmaker who ends up documenting all of it. Same Night City, same company names, no plot thread you have to have followed.

The one piece of stunt casting worth knowing going in: Weak “King” Kingsley is voiced in English by Clancy Brown, who has spent three decades as one of animation’s most recognizable rough-voiced character actors. If King’s line readings feel instantly familiar, that is why. The rest of the English cast is new to the franchise rather than carried over from the first season, matching the new character lineup.

Both seasons sit on the same Netflix title page with a season selector, so there is no separate show to search for. If you want the original Emmy-nominated run first, start there; if you only care about what just dropped, season 2 loses nothing by skipping it. The production record has the full cast and crew breakdown. For how season 2 got announced, our release-date report covers the casting reveal; this guide is the episode-by-episode, where-to-watch follow-up to it. If you’re after another anime that earns a binge, our Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War guide is the other long-running one on our shelf.
