Two binge drops, and what each season adapts
Netflix released each season all at once, which is why every episode in a season shares one date above. The eight episodes of season 1 arrived on August 31, 2023; the eight episodes of season 2, subtitled Into the Grand Line, arrived on March 10, 2026. Netflix’s own series page lists it as two seasons, rated TV-14.
Season 1 covers the East Blue: assembling the crew, the Baratie, and Arlong Park. Season 2 takes them through the entrance to the Grand Line and into Alabasta’s opening moves, which is where the cast expands considerably. A third season, The Battle of Alabasta, has been announced.
You do not need the anime first. The live-action series re-tells the same material from the beginning at roughly an hour per episode, so sixteen episodes cover ground that takes the animated series well over a hundred. If you want the anime instead, that is a different and much longer commitment.
