Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4 Reveals New Sukuna Teaser Visual at 5th Anniversary Event

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4 got a new teaser visual on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, when MAPPA and Shueisha unveiled artwork of Ryomen Sukuna at Jujutsu Fest 2026, the franchise’s fifth-anniversary event in Japan. No premiere date came with it — the reveal was about the image and its cryptic line of dialogue, not a release window.

The visual shows Sukuna submerged in dark water, reaching one hand toward the viewer. Anime Corner’s translation of the accompanying line has Sukuna saying, “Remember when I said we’d see something interesting?” — a callback other outlets have rendered slightly differently in English, since the original Japanese line has not been given an official subtitle.

Where the Story Picks Up

Season 4 adapts “The Culling Game Part 2,” continuing directly from Season 3, which ran 12 episodes from Jan. 9 to March 26, 2026, and closed with a specially extended, 27-minute finale. Season 4 was confirmed the same day that finale aired, and MAPPA followed up with the season’s first teaser video on June 19, 2026. The new Sukuna visual, revealed 71 days later at Jujutsu Fest, is the franchise’s next concrete update — not a new confirmation, but the first fresh piece of Season 4 art since June.

Takeru Sato, who served as assistant director on Season 3, is stepping up to direct Season 4, with Shota Goshozono continuing as chief director. Studio MAPPA has not announced a premiere date, a broadcast season, or streaming details beyond confirming the show remains in production.

Why a Single Piece of Key Art Is the Story

Jujutsu Kaisen has not published a Season 4 premiere date, so a fandom this size reads every fragment of new art as a proxy for how close production actually is. Sukuna’s return to center frame matters specifically because Culling Game Part 1 ended with Sukuna having just seized a new body — Megumi Fushiguro’s, taken over after Sukuna broke his binding vow with Yuji — leaving Megumi’s fate as the open wound Part 2 has to address. Putting the character who now holds that leverage back in the frame, even in a single still image, is MAPPA signaling where the season’s focus sits before a single frame of animation has been shown. It’s also a reminder of just how high Sukuna already sits among the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.
