One story, three seasons in, with the ending already confirmed

Silo is not an anthology and it is not open-ended: Apple confirmed in December 2024 that season 4 will be its last, the season that completes the story Hugh Howey told across three self-published novels, Wool, Shift and Dust. That matters for how to approach it — this is a show built around a mystery with an actual answer, not one designed to run indefinitely. The premise: ten thousand people live in a sealed underground silo, told that the air outside is poison and that going out means death. Rebecca Ferguson’s Juliette Nichols is the engineer who starts asking two questions no one else will: why everyone believes that, and who actually built the silo in the first place.

Developed by Graham Yost, the show pairs Ferguson with Tim Robbins, Rashida Jones, David Oyelowo, Common and Harriet Walter across a cast that keeps expanding as the story’s scope does — season 1 is mostly one silo’s secrets, and by season 3 the show is reckoning with just how many silos there are and what they were really built for. Thirty episodes have aired across three seasons, ten a season, and Apple’s own season 3/4 renewal announcement is the primary source for the final-season confirmation.

All thirty episodes have spoiler-free premises in the season rails below — plot goes nowhere near this page. Apple TV+ is the only place to watch it, no date has been set for season 4, and the production record is where a premiere date would be confirmed first. If a slower, character-driven survival story is more your speed than Silo’s mystery hook, our The Last of Us guide is the other prestige adaptation already on the site; everything else by release date is in our watch guides.
