Daredevil Joins Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man in New Season 2 Tie-In Comic

Daredevil joins Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man in a new comic bridging the animated Disney+ show’s two seasons. Marvel released preview pages on October 29-30 showing Daredevil saving Spider-Man from the villain Stilt-Man, ahead of the four-issue series’ December 9 on-sale date.

The Direct and SuperHeroHype both reported the preview on October 29, 2026, days after Marvel confirmed Season 2’s January 13, 2027 premiere date at New York Comic Con.

What Happens in the Preview

The pages come from Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (2026) #1, a four-issue comic written by Christos Gage and drawn by Eric Gapstur that’s built specifically to bridge the gap between the show’s two seasons. In the preview, Spider-Man takes a beating from Stilt-Man — Wilbur Day, a minor Daredevil villain with a battlesuit that stretches him nearly 300 feet tall — and gets stunned by his sleep gas before Daredevil shows up and turns the fight around with his billy club.

Issue #1 goes on sale December 9, 2026, just 35 days before Season 2’s January 13, 2027 premiere, which is a short enough gap that reading the comic first will genuinely change how the season’s early episodes land.

Writer Christos Gage also confirmed the comic marks Sandman’s first appearance in this continuity, teasing in a statement that “Eric Gapstur returns on art, and while he was great before, he’s leveled up… wait until you see his work on Spidey, Daredevil, and classic Spider-Man villains finally making their debut here.”

Does Daredevil Actually Return to the Show Itself?

That’s the real open question, and it’s worth being precise about: a tie-in comic confirms Daredevil in print, not necessarily on screen. Charlie Cox voiced the animated Daredevil in Season 1, including a full episode team-up, “Duel with the Devil.” But Cox said in April 2026 he didn’t yet know if he’s back for Season 2, explaining that the show’s secretive production only sends him individual scenes rather than full scripts: “I actually don’t know if I am… I didn’t get scripts. It’s very secretive, like our show is, so I just got scenes.” No one involved with the show has confirmed Cox’s return since.

Why Marvel Is Using a Comic to Bridge the Seasons

Using a print comic to connect two seasons of an animated show lets Marvel set up Season 2’s villains and continuity months before the January premiere, without burning a TV episode on table-setting. It also means readers who skip the comic will walk into Season 2 having missed Sandman’s actual first appearance in this universe, even though the show gets the premiere spotlight.
